Home Holiday Decorating Contest – 2023

We are pleased to announce our 2023 Home Holiday Decorating Contest!

Applicants can win for any design, large or small.  You may also “nominate your neighbor.”

A maximum of four prizes will be awarded.

The contest is free and open to all Village of Babylon residents.  See below for more information.

Do you think you have the most festive home on your street?  Maybe you think your neighbor does?  Enter the contest or nominate your neighbor to find out.

Contest information:

  1. Participation is open to all residents within the boundaries of the Village of Babylon.

  2. Entry is free, no cost or fees apply.

  3. Babylon Beautification Society board members and village officials are not eligible to participate.

  4. Entry Applications must be received no later than 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023.  They must be submitted via the online form below.

  5. The contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.

  6. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore, only those decorations on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets). Judges will not enter the property to view back or side yards.

  7. Participants agree to have their addresses posted on the BBS Website and social media pages.

  8. If desired, anyone nominated can opt out of the contest.  Nominators will be disclosed to nominees.

  9. Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on the BBS Website and social media sites. Pictures may also be published in other social media outlets, local media publications, or websites. Participants agree there will be no compensation for said posting or publication.

  10. A minimum of one prize will be awarded, with a maximum of four prizes.

  11. Judging criteria will include [a] Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; [b] Story-line or theme; [c] Display and placement of decorations; and [d] Overall presentation.

  12. Judging will be done from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11, and Tuesday, December 12.

  13. Participants should ensure all lights and decorations are in place and activated for the judging period.

  14. Please ensure that your street address is visible on your home.

  15. Prizes include a sign for your lawn and a special Babylon Beautification Society tree ornament.

  16. Winners will be notified by email or telephone after Tuesday, December 12.

  17. We will announce the winning homes on Sunday, December 17, via our social media sites.
